Smartphones have become an essential part of our lives, and they cannot be dispensed with, but over time using the phone, you will notice that the battery power drains faster, and the storage space runs out due to the large number of photos, videos, and documents, in addition to scratches resulting from the phone falling or colliding with solid objects.

keep your phone strong for longer

All of these things make you think about buying a new phone, but there are several things you can do to continue using your current phone for as long as possible, including the following:

1. Update your phone's operating system regularly:

Many people ignore the notification on their phone when a new system update is available. People often wait days or weeks before updating the operating system in their phone to the latest version. But that could negatively affect the performance of their phones.
Software updates contain fixes for bugs that appeared in previous updates, as well as features to improve performance and better app compatibility. Software updates also keep your phone safe from malware and hackers. When your phone is running older versions of the operating system, passwords, banking information, photos, and contact information are more vulnerable to compromise.

2. Take care of your phone's battery:

The most common reason to consider buying a new phone may be that the battery capacity of the current phone has dropped significantly. But low battery capacity doesn't mean you have to get rid of your phone.
The battery capacity of smartphones begins to decrease after a certain number of charges, so it is a good idea to limit the number of times you charge by conserving battery power for as long as possible by reducing battery-draining activities such as watching videos for long periods of time, and playing video games.
On the other hand, battery drain can be reduced by lowering the screen brightness, disabling the location tool, and Bluetooth when you don't need to use it, as it is constantly running in the background and consuming battery power. All of these practices help improve battery life and keep your phone running efficiently for longer.

3.Keep your phone free storage:

With the large number of applications, photos, and files stored in the phone, the storage space will run out over time, in this case many people think about buying a phone with a higher storage capacity, but there are some other solutions that can be tried before buying a new phone, such as:
  • Delete all apps you don't use.
  • Delete unnecessary photos, videos, and documents.
  • If you have an iPhone, subscribe to the iCloud plan, to get additional cloud storage.
  • If you're using an Android phone, your Google account has 15GB of free cloud storage, or you can upgrade to Google One's paid service, to increase your cloud storage to 100GB.

4.Protect your phone from scratches and bumps:

Protect your phone with a case and screen protector to avoid scratches and breakage. You can use plastic or glass screen protectors. In addition to phone cases to protect the back of your phone and the rear camera from damage. But be sure to remove the clipboard every now and then to clean your phone.

5.Keep your phone at the right temperature:

Smartphones work perfectly in temperatures between 32 and 95 degrees Fahrenheit (0 to 35 degrees Celsius). When the phone overheats, the battery can be damaged, or drain its power quickly, which negatively affects the performance of the phone, and it may stop working suddenly.
If you have to use your phone in very cold or hot weather conditions, turn off the location tool, Bluetooth, reduce the screen brightness and disable notification access. If you notice that your phone is hot while charging, remove the case as it traps heat and accelerates the phone's overheating.
