Here we present a way to disable or delete the Android application launcher on Windows 11, as the feature of running Android applications is one of the most important features of Windows 11, but it constitutes a huge burden on the device’s resources, as it takes up about 4 GB of RAM during operation.
If you want to disable or delete it to save these resources, especially in weak computers, you can do so easily.
There is no option in the settings to disable and activate the running of Android apps, so we will turn off the Windows subsystem for the Android platform that is responsible for running Android apps on Windows 11, or we will permanently remove the platform from the system if you do. Do not intend to use the feature again.
Temporarily disable the feature to run Android apps on Windows 11
- Press Win + S keys together and in the search bar type "WSA".
- Then press Open to open the Settings interface of the Windows subsystem for Android.
- And in the window that appears, select “System” from the side menu and scroll down until you find the option “Turn off Android subsystem”. or "Turn off Windows Subsystem for Android"
- Click "Shutdown" and wait for Windows to disable all feature-related processes.
This feature will not work in the background until you launch the Android app from the apps you have installed on your device.
Permanently remove running Android apps feature
This removes the Windows subsystem for the Android platform as well as all installed Android apps and any other files related to this feature.
- Through Windows Settings, head to the "Applications" section of the side menu.
- And there, tap on “Applications and Features.”
- Then scroll down until you find the "Windows Subsystem for Android" app.
- Then click on the menu button (...) next to the name, then press "Uninstall" and confirm the command by pressing "Uninstall" again.
- Your installed Android apps and Amazon Appstore will disappear and you won't be able to run Android apps on Windows 11 unless you are using an external emulator.
